Progress - Monday thru Wednesday

I've been spending a lot more time practicing drawing this character. Starting to get the feel for drawing attractive poses. Symmetry remains a problem, as do hands and feet.

I added a bit more to the game in terms of gameplay automation and challenge - you only have to hit the draw button once to immediately draw up to 5 cards, rather than drawing one card at a time. This also counts as a "turn end" state.

Each turn, your opponent/love interest (I really need to come up with a name for her) will play a card of her own. I'm not sure exactly what the full set of cards she can play will include, but so far I've been considering:

  • add a junk card to your deck to simulate that you're getting distracted and finding it hard to focus on the date
  • steal a card from your hand
  • increase the target score

Only the junk card has been implemented so far; each turn one is shuffled into your deck. This forces you to make use of your turns and not just wait around for a lucky draw. But it's a little hard core to have one added every turn. So maybe I should add some "do nothing" cards to her repertoire.

I also added a world map screen. Between matches, you'll have the option to travel around the city and visit one of a number of shops that will let you improve your deck by swapping out a card. Not sure yet how many cards you'll be able to swap - maybe just one. I still need to actually implement the "choose a card to swap out" screen.
