FreeCell: Play with Yourself

When you settle in for a quiet night of solitaire, can you be sure that you're really alone? What if you find a voyeuristic jester in your home who just loves to watch you play with yourself?

This game was made for Strawberry Jam 9 over the course of one month. My main focus on this project was learning how to use OpenToonz to do all the character animation, and then learning how to do video playback in Godot. The actual codebase is a horrible mess, but I'm pretty happy with how the animation turned out.

How to play

FreeCell: Play with Yourself is an implementation of the classic solitaire game. The objective of FreeCell is to move every card up into the 4 "foundation" cells in the upper right corner of the play area. The foundations much each start with an ace, and then the other cards of the same suit must be placed on top in order(2, 3, ..., 10, J, Q, K).

You cannot move a card if it's covered by another card, or if it's already in the foundation.

The main play area is called the "tableau", and consists of 8 columns. While rearranging cards on the tableau, you can only place a card onto a card exactly 1 value higher, and of the opposite color. For example, you could place a red 6 on a black 7 but not on a black 8 or a red 7. If a column is empty, you can place any card there. In the upper left corner there are 4 "free cells", which can hold any single card.

To move a card, click on it to select it, then click again on the card or empty space where you'd like to move it. The game does not support "super moves"; you will have to move cards 1 at a time. Press ctrl+Z to undo a move.

Each card you move to the foundation increases the jester's arousal by 20% and each other move (including undoing a move) reduces her arousal by 2%. When the jester's arousal hits 100%, it resets to 0% and her animation moves to the next phase.

If you undo a move, the jester will remember the most cards you've ever had in the foundation, and won't gain arousal for moves that don't increase that number. That means you can't build arousal by simply undoing and redoing the same move over and over.
